“If you want to keep his commandments, they will keep you.” Guarding the word of God causes the Word itself to guard us, transforming our existence into the abode of the wisdom of God. Of that wisdom which both Sirach and Saint Paul speak to us today. «Great indeed is the wisdom of the Lord; strong and powerful, he sees everything. ” In turn, the apostle announces to the Corinthians that, through the Spirit, God has revealed to us his wisdom, previously hidden, but now manifested in the Passover of Jesus. A wisdom different from that of the world, because it is called to become superior to justice of the scribes and Pharisees. To understand in what sense, we must remember the meaning that the couple “to perform” and “abolish” had in the Jewish tradition: the Torah whoever observes it, abolishes it who transgresses it. Those who interpret it well do it, abolish those who interpret it badly. Finally: those who do more than what the precept prescribes, the law abolishes those who do less. Thus Jesus relates to the Law: he observes it, interpreting it well, since it brings all the precepts back to their center: the inseparable commandment of love for God and neighbor. Finally, it lives it radically, going to the root of both the will of God and the human heart. And what God wants is for the human heart to open up to true, fraternal, reconciled, sincere relationships.
