Sap 9:13-18; Ps 89 (90); Philemon 9b-10.12-17; Lk 14:25-33

On this Sunday the Word of God invites us to live according to the criteria of a true wisdom, which however is different from an exclusively worldly wisdom, since it is a question of knowing “the will of God”. Even Jesus, through the twin parables of the builder of a tower or of the king who goes to war, urges the disciple to calculate if he has the necessary means to complete the work he intends to undertake. However, what manifests itself in this human calculation is a different wisdom. In fact, Jesus concludes the two parables declaring: “so that any one of you who does not renounce all his possessions, cannot be my disciple”. The real calculation to do is not if you have the necessary means, but if you are able to give up trusting in yourself and in what you have, to learn to trust in the one we follow, putting love first. he, who will then give the right measure, the true meaning, to our affections and also to everything we do. He is able to complete his work, and do the same for those following, not to the one who calculates if he has enough resources, but to the one who opens his heart to a greater measure of love. This is the cross to be worn: a greater measure of love.
